Enterprise-focused artificial intelligence (AI) startup <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=H2O.ai" target="_blank" rel="noopener">H2O.ai</a> has raised $40 million in its Series C round led by Wells Fargo and <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=NVIDIA" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NVIDIA</a>, the company said in a statement.
New York Life, Crane Venture Partners, Transamerica Ventures and existing investor Nexus Venture Partners also participated in the round.
With the fresh funding, H2O.ai, a Silicon Valley-based company co-founded by Indian-origin entrepreneur Sri Ambati, has raised a total of $75 million.
The proceeds will be used for global expansion and further development of Driverless AI, a product that automates AI for non-technical users, the company said in a statement.
“AI is eating both hardware and software,” said Ambati. “Billions of devices are generating unprecedented amounts of data, which truly calls for distributed machine learning that is ubiquitous and fast. Our focus on automating machine learning makes it easily accessible to large enterprises, &#8221; he added.
H2O.ai was started in 2011 by Ambati and Cliff Click. The startup has co-founded the GPU Open Analytics Initiative (GOAI) with NVIDIA to create an ecosystem for data developers and researchers.
“AI is an incredible force that’s sweeping across the technology landscape. H2O.ai is exceptionally well positioned in this field H2O and the use of GPU-accelerated AI provides powerful tools for customers,” said Jeff Herbst, vice president of business development at NVIDIA.

The Series C round was led by Wells Fargo and NVIDIA and was joined by New York Life, Crane Venture Partners and Transamerica Ventures.
