Japanese private equity firm <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Nippon%20Sangyo Suishin Kiko">Nippon Sangyo Suishin Kiko</a> (NSSK) has announced its acquisition of <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Hotel%20Castle Inn Group">Hotel Castle Inn Group</a>, owner and operator of six hotels in Japan, for an undisclosed amount.
Hotel Castle Inn Group, which operates six hotels &#8211; Castle Inn Yokkaichi, Castle Inn Suzuka, Castle Inn Ise, Castle Inn Tamagaki, Castle Inn Tsu, and Resort Inn Futami &#8211; in the Mie Prefecture of the Chubu Region, offers a total of 826 guest rooms targeting primarily business travelers.
“The hotels are differentiated in the market through its affordable pricing and attractive amenities, such as onsen-style bathing facilities, ample and accessible parking spaces, and comfortable rooms,” NSSK said in a statement on its website.
Additionally, NSSK said Mie Prefecture of the Chubu Region has a strong demand for hotels that accommodate business and leisure travelers.
Following the acquisition, NSSK will manage Castle Inn Group and implement “global best practices” with the initial focus on accounting, finance, governance, compliance, corporate identity and ESG (environmental, social and governance), the company said.
“NSSK will also work closely with its hotel management operating partners. The implementation of these measures is expected to increase revenue per available room,” it added.
NSSK, which targets control acquisitions of middle market companies, said the acquisition of Hotel Castle Inn Group will be carried out by Chubu/Hokuriku Region Vitalization Investment LP.
Chubu Hokuriku GenPar G.K., an NSSK company, is the General Partner of Chubu/Hokuriku Investment LP.
Through this vehicle, NSSK invests in small and medium-sized companies with high growth potential based in the Chubu/Hokuriku Region, which consists of the Aichi, Gifu, Mie, Shizuoka, Nagano, Toyama, Ishikawa and Fukui Prefectures.
In October last year, NSSK made a final close of NSSK Fund II in October 2017 with total investor commitments of ¥60 billion ($530.28 million).
The oversubscribed investment partnership experienced significant demand from a diverse range of institutional investors from North America, Europe, and Asia, NSSK said.
Last March, the Japanese alternative investment management company announced its investment in Sowa Project Co, a company founded in 1986 and headquartered in Sapporo, Hokkaido.
Sowa Project currently rents bridal gowns and accessories and operates three wedding banquet facilities and one church in Sapporo and holds roughly 1,000 wedding parties a year.
