Vietnam’s <a href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Ocean" target="_blank">OceanBank</a> has changed its chairperson, again.
Dao Thi Thuy, who will be replacing the Nguyen Minh Thu, will be the <a style="color: #0000ff" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/vietnams-ocean-bank-has-a-new-chairman/" target="_blank">second person to chair the post</a> in the past two months since the arrest of bank&#8217;s former chairman, Ha Van Tham.
The move is in line with OceanBank’s effort to purge itself from the financial scandal.
According to the reports in state- run media, Tham, one of the country’ s prominent businessmen and chairman of the Ocean group, has been accused of approving $23.5 million loan to Trung Dung real estate company; a loan that was not secured by a proper collateral and expected to go bad. Tham was discharged from his post as chairman due to his individual “violation of regulations on lending activities” and was replaced by Thu.
Thuy, an independent member of the board, took the place of Thu who had resigned from the position. However, she is still serving as the board member with the bank .
Thuy who joined the OceanBank’s, managing board, April last year, has a a bachelor degree from the Academy of Finance.
In addition, the Vietnamese lender elected new people for a number of key positions, in order to “consistently implement the goal of safe, sustainable growth and low non-performing loans”.
