Partners Group has closed a new $1-billion Asia private credit mandate with a major institutional investor in Asia, in an open-ended evergreen structure, the firm said in an announcement.
The mandate includes a discretionary tranche that will be managed by Partners Group as well as co-investment capital.
It will invest in senior and junior direct lending opportunities across multiple sectors and jurisdictions in Asia-Pacific, the firm added.
Partners Group has a 15-year track record investing in private credit in the region. In total, the firm manages over $40 billion in private credit assets.
The Swiss asset manager said it has closed more than five mandates with institutional investors in Asia over the last year, including a 800-million-euro mandate to support a regional sovereign wealth fund in building direct private equity and infrastructure exposure across markets in Asia and Europe.
There is an increasing appetite by Asia-based institutional investors towards building private markets exposure in their home market, according to Kevin Lu, Chairman of Asia at Partners Group.
“We have seen this trend gain momentum recently across multiple asset classes. Within private credit specifically, a growing number of sovereign wealth funds and insurance companies, particularly in Southeast Asia and Japan, are increasing allocations to the asset class due to the attractive risk adjusted returns currently available compared to public fixed income portfolios,” he said.
Andrew Bellis, Partners Group’s Global Head of Private Credit, sees Asia as a dynamic region and an increasingly important hub to the global economy. “The concentration of highly differentiated economies in the region also creates natural diversification benefits,” he added.
Partners Group has so far attracted $68 billion commitments to its institutional investor mandate solutions, according to its website.
The firm is also expanding its evergreen fund offerings on the private wealth side in Asia, recently with its royalties strategy. The strategy’s asset value increased 50% in the first half of 2026 to $1.5 billion.
