<p dir="ltr">Impact investor Patamar Capital has hit the fundraising trail for its second vehicle that has a targeted size of over $45 million, according to people familiar with the development.</p>
<p dir="ltr">From the new vehicle, Patamar Capital &#8211; formerly known as Unitus Impact Partners &#8211; is expected to back 20-25 early and growth-stage startups that are working on enhancing livelihood opportunities for communities in south and south-east Asia, DEALSTREETASIA has learnt.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Patamar typically makes early stage (Series A) and selective growth-stage (Series B) investments. The firm actively invests in the geographies of India, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.</p>

<p dir="ltr">Patamar Capital raised $45 million through its first Unitus Livelihood Impact Fund in 2016. The investor has supported 14 companies through the first vehicle, which is now fully deployed. The firm typically also makes follow-on investments in its portfolio companies to enable them to achieve scale.</p>
<p>Some of Patamar&#8217;s investments through its first fund include Indonesian healthcare startup mClinica, Vietnamese for-profit social enterprise iCare Benefits, Philippines&#8217; jobs portal Kalibrr, among others.</p>
<p>Being an impact investor, Patamar Capital also measures the social impact of its investments including the number of low-income individuals benefited and the economic value realised by these individuals (increase in income or savings).</p>

<p dir="ltr">When contacted, Patamar Capital declined to comment on the new vehicle.</p>
<p dir="ltr">According to media reports, Patamar Capital’s limited partner base includes philanthropic organisations, family offices, and pension funds.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Earlier, Patamar set aside $2-3 million to invest into woman-focused start ups in Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The initiative is said to have closed four deals already in the range of $200,000 and $300,000 in women-led businesses at the seed or pre-Series A stage. The fund is likely to close all six investments in the next  2-3 months. The investment has been made through Patamar Capital&#8217;s women SME-focused impact fund, which was launched last year in collaboration with the Australian government’s Investing in Women initiative.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The women SME-focused fund also runs an impact accelerator programme where four of the 12 participating companies are chosen by peers to receive $25,000 in funding. Earlier, Patamar, through the woman-focused fund, had injected an undisclosed sum in Indonesia-based student loan platform Dana Cita</p>
<p dir="ltr">Before Dana Cita, Patamar has invested in Vietnamese digital platform JupViec and Indonesian farm-to-table fresh produce distribution platform SayurBox through its women SME-focused vehicle which was reported by this portal.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Before the  latest round, Dana Cita raised $120,000 seed funding in January 2018 from Y Combinator programme and GE32 Capital.</p>
