President of Walmart Asia Realty is moving to lead Taubman Asia early next year. Meanwhile, US- based PIMCO is hiring over 20 new positions for its expansion in Asia Pacific.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Taubman Asia names new president</h3>
Taubman Centers Inc announced that Peter J Sharp, president of Walmart Asia Realty, is named to be a next president of Taubman Asia, effective on January 1, 2017.
He will replace René Tremblay who has served Taubman Asia as president for 6 years and is being promoted to be chairman.
Sharp will report to Robert S Taubman, the chairman, president and CEO of Taubman Centers Inc. In his role, he will take charge of the company’s operations and growth strategy in Asia Pacific region.
Prior to Taubman, Sharp has worked for Walmart International for 20 years. With his most recently post at Walmart Asia Realty, he oversees the company’s Asia real estate portfolio, mall developments and has been responsible for all aspects of business planning, real estate, realty partnerships and mergers and acquisitions.
Also, he has led the company’s expansion in China and entry into India, Japan and South Korea.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">PIMCO hiring 20 new roles in Asia</h3>
The US-based asset management firm PIMCO will hire over 20 new professionals in sales and marketing, operations, legal and compliance roles to facilitate its Asia Pacific expansion, according to Financial Standard’s report.
PIMCO head of Asia Pacific Eric J. Mogelof told the media that the region &#8220;continues to be an important growth engine for PIMCO. We manage assets for both institutional and wealth management clients, with more institutional assets at present but a rapidly growing individual investor base.&#8221;
He explained that while the majority of assets under management in Asia ex-Japan are core and non-core fixed income, wealth management clients are expressing interest in the areas of income, credit, and alternatives.
Mogelof said the private wealth base continues to grow in Asia ex-Japan with an expectation that it will surpass North America&#8217;s individual wealth base in the next five years.
&#8220;To support our clients and this asset growth, we have been increasing our resources within our wealth management effort,” he added.
