People Digest: BTIG, Macquarie Capital rope in MDs to augment M&A team

Global financial services firm BTIG has roped in Shingo Yatsui as Managing Director and Head of Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions of its Investment Banking division, while Macquarie has appointed Mark Buchanan as Managing Director and Head of North American Family Office Coverage.

BTIG appoints Shingo Yatsui as MD, cross-border M&A head

Global financial services firm BTIG has roped in Shingo Yatsui as Managing Director and Head of Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions of its Investment Banking division, according to an official announcement.

Based in San Francisco, Yatsui will spend a significant amount of time in the Asia Pacific region, where he will oversee mergers and acquisitions for Asian clients, thereby helping them identify transactions and spot valuable opportunities in the US and European market. Simultaneously, he will also help US-based clients to look into Asian opportunities.

Yatsui will report to JT Herman, Managing Director and Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at BTIG.

Prior to joining BTIG, Yatsui was a Director within the Industrials, Electronics and Semiconductors Investment Banking teams at GCA, where he focused on buy-side M&A opportunities for large-cap Asian strategic buyers and sell-side M&A activity and capital raises for US companies looking to secure Asian investors.

Earlier, he was Vice President of Investments and a member of Technology, Media and Telecommunications team at ITX, a subsidiary of Japan’s Sojitz Corporation.

BTIG is a global financial services firm specializing in institutional trading, investment banking, research and related brokerage services.

The firm offers execution, expertise and insights for equities, equity derivatives, ETFs and fixed income, currency and commodities (futures, commodities, foreign exchange, interest rates, credit, and convertible and preferred securities).

Macquarie Capital appoints MD, Head of North American Family Office Coverage 

Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory, capital markets and principal investment arm of Macquarie Group, has appointed Mark Buchanan as Managing Director and Head of North American Family Office Coverage, according to an announcement.

Buchanan carries with him about 20 years of experience wherein he has advised public and private clients on strategic transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity capital raisings, financings, as well as principal investing.

Before joining Macquarie Capital, he was Managing Director at BMO Financial Group. Earlier, he has also held advisory positions at Credit Suisse.

Macquarie Capital has also appointed Mark Padjen as Senior Vice President. Both Padjen and Buchanan will be based in Chicago and work across multiple industries.

Padjen, too, joins Macquarie Capital from BMO Financial Group, where he was a Director focused on privately held businesses and family offices.
