<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.pnbsavings.com.ph/" target="_blank">PNB Savings Bank (PNBSB)</a>, a subsidiary of the <a href="http://www.pnb.com.ph/" target="_blank">Philippine National Bank (PNB)</a>, is appointing Jovencio Hernandez as its new president.
PNB disclosed its board of directors accepted Hernandez&#8217;s resignation as executive vice president effective February 8, and will be a direct hire of PNB Savings Bank as its president on February 9, 2016.
Hernandez joined PNB in 2007 as head of the bank&#8217;s consumer finance and credit card business and was promoted as group head for retail banking in 2009.
His core expertise is in banking and consumer goods marketing.
Hernandez is a certified public accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce, major in Accounting from the De La Salle College.
PNB Savings Bank, formerly Allied Savings Bank (ASB), was acquired by PNB in 2013 where its consumer loan books were later on consolidated to strengthen the company&#8217;s bid to be a strong player in the consumer finance business particularly in the housing and motor vehicle market segments.
PNBSB now has 38 local branches. Its paid-up capital has reached P10.5 billion, a far cry from its initial capitalization of P5 million. The bank now ranks 10th in terms of total assets and deposits among the country’s 63 savings banks. It also ranks third in terms of capital. PNBSB has a capital adequacy ratio of 97.34 per cent.
