Philip Kunz, a former <a class="tinymce-colortext" style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/people-alibaba-paytm-mall-board-sunil-sanghai-hsbc-81219/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HSBC</a> banker is back at the bank as the head of its Global Private Bank for Southeast Asia.
In an announcement on Wednesday, HSBC said that the former banker who had left HSBC for UBS Wealth Management in 2010, will be responsible for driving and executing HSBC’s strategy for private banking across South East Asia.
Based in Singapore, one of the world’s largest hubs of wealth, he will report locally to HSBC Singapore’s CEO Tony Cripps and functionally to Regional Head of Global Private Banking, Asia-Pacific, Tan Siew Meng. He will assume the role shortly.
With more than 35 years’ of experience, including the last 20 years in Asia, Kunz brings extensive expertise in the private banking industry, including formerly with HSBC leading the South Asia team. Recently at UBS he held a number of senior wealth management and private banking roles, including overseeing client management teams and most recently as Wealth Management COO for the Singapore office.
“As the regional wealth hub for ASEAN and a leading booking centre internationally for High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI), Singapore is a strategically important beachhead for wealth in the region,” said Cripps in the statement on Kunz&#8217; comeback.
HSBC, one of the earliest banks to establish in Singapore, thorugh its private banking arm provides clients with wealth, business and family succession solutions in the largest and fastest growing player in Singapore&#8217;s financial services sector serving the banking needs of multi-national corporations, home-grown businesses, private banking clients, institutional and retail customers.
