Twenty teams out of 108 startup entries have made it to the 2015 Philippine Startup Challenge, a nationwide competition in the digital space.
The <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://icto.dost.gov.ph" target="_blank">Department of Science and Technology ICT Office (DOST-ICTO)</a> and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://psia.org.ph" target="_blank">Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA)</a> announced the top 20 qualifying teams of their annual Philippine Startup Challenge last Wednesday.
The teams were determined by a election committee of industry experts, startup founders, accelerators, and government representatives.
The Philippine Startup Challenge is a nationwide digital startup competition for college students that aims to inspire the development of relevant startups that could help solve some of the country’s social and economic problems.
The theme for this years’ competition is “Create disruptive technologies, Solve real life problems.&#8221;

 Travelista – iTravel Safe (University of Southeastern Philippines)
Tripple J – Beep! (University of Southeastern PhiTechnology),
Gasifanatics – Gasify App (University of Southeastern Philippines)
PackageGroup – BarcRoid Scanner (Mindanao University of Science and Technology)
Seek2Park – Seek2Park (University of Southeastern Philippines)
Power Puff – SoonToBeMom App (University of Southeastern Philippines)
Hardwire – OUTLET (Ateneo de Davao University)
iTeam – Farm2Ket (University of Cebu – Main Campus)

The top 20 teams will now go through a two-level follow-up mentoring session. In level one, members of local ICT, startup, and tech communities will further evaluate and mentor qualifying teams from their areas. In the second level, PSIA mentors will re-evaluate the top twenty and assist them in creating their Minimum Viable Product for their pitch in the National Finals.
After these mentoring sessions, the jury will select the 10 finalists who qualify for the national finals where they will have face-to-face pitching sessions with potential funders, industry experts, and ICTO officials.  The three winners in the national finals will have mentorship and internship opportunities in some of the competition’s industry partners, among other prizes.
