Philippine tech startup <a style="color: #000080" href="http://www.portfoliomnl.com">PortfolioMNL</a> has launched Network Portals, the first single digital hub for creative professionals in the country.
The startup&#8217;s co-founder and CEO Rina Malonzo said Network Portals is PortfolioMNL&#8217;s latest feature as an online portfolio and job site built exclusively for creative professionals. It gives local and foreign employers access to thousands of creative talents across the Philippines through the Internet.
Malonzo explained that although PortfolioMNL&#8217;s platform provides job listings similar to popular job sites, its differs by having not only resumes or CVs of applicants, but also of their portfolio of multimedia work samples ranging from photos, videos, and music files.
On a single digital accessible marketplace, PortfolioMNL hosts portals of creative schools and organizations to provide them with an online platform to market the talent and skills of their students, alumni, faculty, including members.
&#8220;Our Network Portals tear down the logistical barriers to discovering untapped creative talent, providing growth opportunities for both creatives and companies that hire them,&#8221; Malonzo said, noting employers may search for individual creatives by skill, experience level, or location, or search within specific organizations via online.
PortfolioMNL co-founder Trina Dela Rama even labeled traditional job fair as a &#8220;pain point&#8221; that needs to be solved and Network Portals is bent on making these job fairs obsolete.
&#8220;What we have is a community of professional organisations, schools, and accredited professionals,&#8221; Dela Rama said.
Launched in 2013, PortfolioMNL is one of the first batches of local tech startup incubator and accelerator <a style="color: #000080" href="http://ideaspacefoundation.org">IdeaSpace Foundation</a>. It now has over 2,500 members composed of Filipino creative interns, freelancers, and full-time hires, 13 partner schools (colleges and universities), and three professional creative organisations, namely United Architects of the Philippines, Animation Council of the Philippines, and Freelance Writers&#8217; Guild of the Philippines, functioning as accrediting bodies that can provide headhunters with licensed creative talents.

&#8220;We met with a lot of schools last year, but now our target is to meet with corporations and develop the culture of creativity,&#8221; Malonzo said, adding they intend to add eight more partners this year and reach 30,000 members in 2016.
A former New York-based creative director, Malonzo said Filipino creative professionals are recognised for their talent and innovation, particularly in emerging industries such as animation and game design.
She said the Philippines&#8217; creative industries have contributed P661 billion ($15 million) to the country&#8217;s GDP or gross domestic product in 2010 and that it produces around 102,000 creative graduates yearly based on records of the Commission on Higher Education in 2012.
