Germany-based Internet platform giant <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.rocket-internet.com">Rocket Internet SE</a> has launched a new mobile classifieds platform <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.sparklist.pk" target="_blank">Sparklist</a>, designed for improved online shopping of second-hand goods, in Pakistan.
The venture aims to connect buyers and sellers that are mostly relevant to each other via location-based listings and social features.
Nalla Karunanithy, founder and global managing director of Sparklist, said, he made the app in response to the growing smartphone users in Pakistan, as well as in anticipation of its future growth.

&#8220;Only 4.5 per cent of the population in Pakistan uses smartphones, which alone represents a massive market of nine million users; as the adoption of smart technology rapidly grows, Pakistan’s market will become increasingly more competitive and first movers will have a distinct competitive advantage,&#8221; Karunanithy said.
Pakistan at present has a population of over 180 million inhabitants.
Karunanithy plans to launch Sparklist in emerging markets across the globe. The startup&#8217;s managing director in Pakistan is Khizr Imran Tajammul, winner of the Rwanga Social Startup Competition at the fifth One Young World Summit in Dublin, Ireland.

&#8220;In our mobile app, users can constantly make new connections, find new bargains, and truly harness the immense but hidden socio-economic potential of their own respective communities,&#8221; Karunanithy said.
Through its proximity sensitive listings, Sparklist eliminates the nuisance of lengthy commute times. And besides enhancing social cohesion, it also keeps the wealth of within the community.

To encourage engagement between buyers and sellers alike, Sparklist offers several social features in its app, including an integrated instant messaging system.
Users can browse through a large assortment of products in their proximity and find a wide variety of second hand goods. Buyers and sellers can directly communicate, negotiate and engage to conclude a transaction.
To showcase an item, a user only needs to take a picture of the product to be sold, add a description, set a price, and bargain until one finds the right price. Users are verified through social media integration.
