Weekly roundup: Vietnam’s CoderSchool raises $2.6m and other SE Asia deals

CoderSchool, a Vietnamese edtech startup that offers online coding courses, announced raising $2.6 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by Singapore-headquartered venture capital firm Monk’s Hill Ventures.

The funding round was also participated by existing investors Iterative, XA Network, and iSeed Ventures, as per the announcement.

The company, founded in 2015 by Charles Lee and Harley Trung, said the fresh funding will be used to create more educational content and boost its technology infrastructure.

CoderSchool also seeks to hire an additional 35 instructional staff by the last quarter of this year to support its online operations. Since its inception, the startup said it has produced over 2,000 alumni and tripled the number of enrolled students.

“Coding is the future. At Coderschool, we believe anyone in Southeast Asia deserves a chance to be part of that future,” said company CEO Lee.

SG-based data automation startup Bluesheets raises $1.5m

Bluesheets, a Singapore-based data automation platform, has raised $1.5 million in a seed funding round led by Australia’s seed-stage investment group Investible. The funds will be used to expand the startup’s markets, according to an announcement.

Venture capital firms Antler, 1982 Ventures, Kiplex Ventures, and Kistefols also participated in the funding round of Bluesheets, which was launched by Christian Schneider and Clare Leighton this year.

In a statement, Bluesheets said it uses artificial intelligence (AI), classification algorithms, and machine learning to automate enterprise accounting, among others.

It works with SMEs, accounting firms, and large enterprises clients, including Pizza Express, Osome, and Nextpay, and provides a self-serve SaaS model and tiered subscription plan.

Since its inception, the startup said it has acquired enterprises and SME customers in over 10 countries. The fresh funding will be used to expand to all markets and acquire new client segments.
