HSBC Vietnam arranges $31m loan for Nutifood
HSBC Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. has arranged an 800-billion-dong ($31 million) five-year loan facility, backed by a 90% guarantee from Australia’s export credit agency Export Finance Australia (EFA), for dairy producer Nutifood Nutrition Food JSC to fund the construction of a pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City.
The bridge will connect Bach Dang Wharf Park in District 1 with the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, a key development zone in the city’s eastern corridor.
Under the deal, HSBC acted as ECA coordinator, mandated lead arranger, facility agent, security agent, and original lender. The facility was structured in Vietnamese dong to better align with Nutifood’s domestic funding requirements while benefitting from EFA-backed credit support.
The transaction supports the development of social infrastructure in HCMC and demonstrates how export credit agency-backed structures can help deliver VND financing for projects with clear community benefits. By enabling local-currency funding, the facility helps align financing with project costs and supports more resilient funding outcomes for Vietnamese corporates.
“This facility demonstrates how we can bring together export credit agency support and local- currency financing to meet our clients’ needs while supporting projects with tangible benefits for the community. We’re proud to support Nutifood on a landmark social infrastructure initiative that will enhance connectivity in central HCMC,” said Tim Evans, CEO and Head of Banking, HSBC Vietnam.
V-GREEN joins hands with local partners in Philippines
Global charging infrastructure development company V-GREEN, founded by VinFast founder Pham Nhat Vuong, has signed memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with the Provincial Government of Bataan and Clean Fuel, one of the leading independent fuel companies in the Philippines, to expand EV-charging and battery swapping infrastructure in high-traffic areas across the provinces of Bataan and Cavite.
According to an announcement, V-GREEN and the Provincial Government of Bataan will collaborate on the planning, deployment, and operation of a province-wide EV charging network. This network will cover one city and 11 municipalities, positioning Bataan as a leading model for EV adoption in the Philippines.
Specifically, V-GREEN targets the deployment of 600 charging stations and 1,200 battery swapping stations across Bataan. The company will be responsible for the supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of the charging network, while the Provincial Government of Bataan will facilitate permits, endorse strategic locations, and coordinate with local government units.
In parallel, V-GREEN has also signed an MoU with Clean Fuel to explore the development of EV charging stations at high-traffic fuel stations in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
The collaboration will focus on identifying suitable locations and the potential integration of EV infrastructure into Clean Fuel’s existing retail network, making charging more convenient by allowing users to charge at familiar stops along their journeys.
The new agreements lay important groundwork for VinFast’s upcoming launch of electric scooters in the Philippines, ensuring battery swapping infrastructure availability from day one.
