Procter &amp; Gamble (P&amp;G) is committing $8.8 million to develop new businesses in Singapore, while global social listening company Talkwalker is setting up an APAC presence starting with a new Singapore office.
<h3>P&amp;G to invest $8.8 million to build SG businesses</h3>
Procter &amp; Gamble (P&amp;G) is committing $8.8 million (S$12 million) to develop new businesses in Singapore.
According to a TechinAsia report, the investment includes a seed fund of $5.8 million (S$8 million). The funds will be invested out of GrowthWorks, P&amp;G&#8217;s venture-building unit, to support new brands, platforms and business models.
GrowthWorks was formed through a partnership with Singapore&#8217;s Economic Development Board in 2014 with an initial investment of $184 million (S$250 million).
Social listening company Talkwalker opens SG office
Talkwalker has opened a new office in Singapore to develop its social listening business in the Asia Pacific.
The social listening and analytics platform is headquartered in Luxembourg. It has offices across New York, San Francisco and Frankfurt.
According to Talkwalker, APAC comprises over 56 per cent of the world&#8217;s active social media users. The new office will help the company capture this growing market.
&#8220;Brands can’t risk missing out on engaging these users, and with the growth of business in the area, Asian brands are also looking to engage western consumers. This positioning allows Talkwalker to help all businesses connect on a global scale, no matter where in the world they are based,” said Ben Soubies, Head of Sales, Asia Pacific, who will be leading the Singapore team.
Talkwalker added that the company will continue to invest in technology and expand to more markets in 2019. It currently has over 2,000 global brands as its clients.
