<article><a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.citigroup.com" target="_blank">Citigroup</a> has appointed Singapore-based <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://sg.linkedin.com/pub/shyam-sambamurthy/5/429/a3" target="_blank">Shyam Sambamurthy</a> as the first global head of its international personal banking business.</article>

<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.citigroup.com" target="_blank">Citigroup</a> has appointed Singapore-based <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://sg.linkedin.com/pub/shyam-sambamurthy/5/429/a3" target="_blank">Shyam Sambamurthy</a> as the first global head of its international personal banking business.
This Citigroup unit will be focusing on managing the wealth of the high net worth individuals (HNIs) with assets distributed globally.
Sambamurthy, who has worked for Citigroup for 27 years, will oversee a business that maintains a portfolio of 260,000 clients, with more than $60 billion of assets under management (AUM), the bank said in a press release on Tuesday.
He was previously business manager in Singapore for the personal bank.
Sambamurthy will report to <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://in.linkedin.com/pub/anand-selvakesari/7/a30/88" target="_blank">Anand Selvakesari</a>, the head of consumer banking for Asia Pacific (APAC). He will also report to <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.linkedin.com/pub/gonzalo-luchetti/0/23/744" target="_blank">Gonzalo Luchetti</a>, who is the Citibank&#8217;s global head of wealth management and its Asian retail bank head.
Selvakesari was appointed to lead APAC consumer banking in July 2015, which generated US$7.5 billion of revenue in 2014 for Citigroup, accounting for more than 50 per cent of the bank&#8217;s revenues for the region. The personal banking unit maintains five booking centres worldwide, in the financial centres of Hong Kong, Jersey, London, Singapore and the US.
Sambamurthy was previously the business manager of <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.ipb.citibank.com.sg/portal/home_english/citi_home.htm" target="_blank">IPB Singapore</a> from 2009 and has extensive experience managing complex and multi-jurisdictional businesses across the Asian and European sectors.
<a style="color: #000080;" href="https://sg.linkedin.com/pub/michael-zink/16/108/b96" target="_blank">Michael Zink</a>, the head of ASEAN, at Citigroup, said, &#8220;We first launched IPB in Singapore in 1983 and I am delighted that we are continuing to build on our success. Shyam&#8217;s appointment affirms the importance of Singapore to Citi and is very much in line with the country&#8217;s development as a leading international financial centre.&#8221;
