Singapore-based venture capital firm TNB Aura has secured the final close of its first $22.7 million (S$31.1 million) venture fund targeting Southeast Asia.
According to an official statement, the oversubscribed fund was backed by institutional investors, regional corporations, family offices and high net worth individuals. It was initially targeting a hard close of $22.5 million.
TNB Aura Fund I is a partnership between Singapore-based venture capital firm TNB Ventures and Australian headquartered investment bank Aura Group.
It invests in data-driven B2B enterprises in advanced manufacturing &amp; engineering, IoT, robotics &amp; autonomous systems, AI/machine learning and augmented reality/virtual reality.
The VC has backed three companies so far, including TradeGecko, an inventory and order management platform for small-medium enterprises (SMEs);  Ematic Solutions, a digital cross-channel marketing optimisation platform and Teko, an O2O consumer electronics distributor in Vietnam.
Charles Wong, Managing Partner of TNB Aura said the fund intends to eventually back 10 to 15 companies across the region. Its ticket sizes are between $364,140 and $2.2 million (S$500,000 and S$3 million) into seed-to-Series A and B rounds.
“Our hands-on approach is designed to maximise the potential of exceptional companies. We focus on identifying high-calibre teams applying unique technologies via defensible business models, and support their transformation into long-term sustainable businesses,” he added.
According to TNB Aura&#8217;s website, the VC has led 5 investee companies to IPO on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) in the last 2 years. It also claims to have experience in restructuring VC portfolio companies, M&amp;A transactions and corporate advisory.
TNB Aura is a co-investment partner with Enterprise Singapore under two schemes.
Under the Startup SG Equity Scheme, TNB Aura invests up to $2.9 million (S$4 million) in post-seed and Series A startups in Southeast Asia. Under the “Advanced Manufacturing &amp; Engineering” scheme, the fund targets data-driven B2B hardware-as-a-service and software-as-a-service companies.
TNB Aura is also one of 5 appointed co-investment partners with Enterprise Singapore&#8217;s investment arm, SEEDS Capital for up to $10.9 million (S$15 million).
