US and Japan-focused venture capital firm SunBridge Partners has exited its investment in Marketo KK as part of Adobe’s $4.75-billion purchase of Marketo, according to an official statement.
Marketo KK was a Japan joint venture between Marketo and SunBridge Partners.
SunBridge partnered with Marketo in 2013 to establish its Japan operations, including hiring its current president Yasutaka Fukuda, per a statement.
“We have been fortunate to have SunBridge Partners as a key strategic ally and investor in Japan; their local networks, insights on what makes Japan unique, and understanding on how to best serve customers have been invaluable,&#8221; said Marketo CFO Mark Miller.
SunBridge Partners invests in enterprise software and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) startups in the US and Japan. It has previously co-founded Concur Japan, Marketo Japan, Demandware Japan and Kyriba Japan.
The VC says it has invested over $100 million in more than 65 portfolio companies, resulting in nine successful IPOs and several major exits generating over $23 billion in current market capitalization.
