<a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Ruentex">Ruentex Industries</a>, a Taiwan-listed textile products manufacturer, has pledged $100 million to <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Hopu">Hopu Investment</a>&#8216;s third dollar-denominated fund, Hopu USD Master Fund III, according to Chinese media reports.
Hopu&#8217;s new fund seeks to raise up to $2.5 billion and is expected to make a final close this year. It has already received more than $1 billion in commitments.
Reuters reported last year that among the investors that have committed to the fund include China Investment Corp (CIC) and Singapore state investor Temasek, Japan’s Mitsui &amp; Co Ltd, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, and Singapore’s GIC.
Founded in 2007 by former Goldman Sachs investment banker Richard Ong, Hopu has become one of the longest-established private equity firms in China.
Ruentex has not made an official statement about its commitment to the new fund set up by one of China&#8217;s homegrown private equity firms. DEALSTREETASIA will update this news as soon as the Taiwanese firm makes an official announcement.
Listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange since 1977, Ruentex is engaged in reproducing, dyeing, printing, selling, importing, and exporting natural cotton, fiber, and spinning products, among others. It also sells and leases commercial and residential buildings as well as manages wholesale operations.
According to data from the stock exchange, Ruentex is expanding its supply chain by utilising SAP system with the aim of setting up a global trade platform for the textile industry.
&#8220;We will also increase our brand agency business and explore the mainland China market actively so as to expand our retail business,&#8221; a company spokesperson said in a document earlier furnished to the stock exchange.
