Singapore state fund <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Temasek+Holdings+" target="_blank">Temasek Holdings </a>said chief executive Ho Ching, who is also the wife of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, had opted to extend her sabbatical until October.
Ho, 62, took leave in mid-April, and was initially slated to be back at work at the end of this month. She had gone on a sabbatical after the death of her father-in-law, Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore&#8217;s first prime minister.
“Ho Ching, CEO and executive director of Temasek, has taken the option of extending her part-time sabbatical leave to six months, and will complete her sabbatical in October 2015.  She will continue with her board duties and specific stewardship duties,” the state fund <a href="http://www.temasek.com.sg/mediacentre/newsreleases?detailid=23443" target="_blank">said in a statement.</a>
“Lee Theng Kiat, President of Temasek, will continue to cover all normal course of business at Temasek,” the statement added.
Temasek did not provide any reasons for Ho extending her sabbatical. The announcement comes amid speculations in local media and blogs that the city-state will see its next general elections this year,
Earlier this month, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Temasek">Temasek Holdings</a> had announced it had posted total shareholder return (TSR in Singapore dollars) of 19.2 per cent on a one-year basis, driven by strong performance of its Singapore and China portfolio.
The firm said its portfolio value had risen to S$266 billion as of March 31 this year, when compared to S$223 billion for the corresponding period last year. The portfolio was up S$43 billion year-on-year and the group’s net profit for this period was S$14.5 billion.
