Other investors in the round included Sao Paulo-based <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Pitanga+">Pitanga</a> and San Francisco-based <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=CrunchFund">CrunchFund</a>.
The Series B round was closed in the same week as the launch of the company’s sixth micro-satellite on June 15 from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in China, the company said. With the de-commissioning of the NASA Hyperion instrument in March this year, Satellogic is now the sole supplier of high-resolution hyper-spectral imagery in the world.
Founded in 2010, Satellogic has created a low-cost micro-satellite platform, enabling affordable monitoring of the planet at one meter of resolution and high-frequency hyper-spectral data solutions suited for advanced geo-intelligence and other applications. Its satellites can be used for agricultural, environmental and climate-change monitoring as well as land use classification for industry, government planning and forestry management.

Tencent, the largest internet corporation in China, has also participated in a $20-million Series B round in Moon Express, a startup that aims to put drones on the lunar body; and joined a $21.1-million Series A round in Planetary Resources, which is looking into asteroid-mining.
