The office of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) today approved the establishment of the long-delayed <a href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Jasmine+Broadband+Internet+Infrastructure+Fund" target="_blank">Jasmine Broadband Internet Infrastructure Fund</a> (JASIF), with an approximate size between 55 billion baht – 57.75 billion baht ($1.69 billion-$1.77 billion).
JASIF’s proceeds will be used to invest in fiber-optic cable, developed and managed by <a href="http://www.triplet.co.th" target="_blank">Triple T Broadband Plc (TTTBB)</a>, a subsidiary of <a href="https://www.jasmine.com/" target="_blank">Jasmine International Plc (JAS)</a>.
JAS will hold 33.33 per cent shares in JASIF in the first three years and at least 19 per cent in the fourth to sixth year. The proceeds from JASIF will be used to invest in 980,000 core kilometres of fibre-optic cable.
Of total, TTTBB will transfer the first 800,000 core kilometres to JASIF once JASIF’s IPO is completed, and transfer the additional 180,000 core kilometres in the next two years.

Triple-T as well as other operators, in turn, will be allowed to rent 80 per cent of the fibre-optic cable from the fund for 11 years to provide service to its customers, and the remaining 20 per cent for 3 years, enabling JASIF to renew the contract every three years until the 11-year-old contract is ended.
JASIF will pay dividend to shareholders at least twice a year and total dividend for an accounting year will not be less than 90 per cent of the net profit. In 2015, Jasmine estimates the return in the range of 8.6 &#8211; 9 per cent in the first year.
<a href="http://www.bblam.co.th/" target="_blank">BBL Asset Management</a> is the fund manager and <a href="http://bualuang.co.th/en/index.php" target="_blank">Bualuang Securities</a> the financial advisor and underwriter.
JAS shares were traded at 7.85 baht at 3 pm today, increasing from the opening price of 7.80 baht.
