Thailand-based regional end-to-end e-commerce service provider <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.acommerce.asia/" target="_blank">aCommerce</a> has raised an additional $5 million from its existing investors, the company said.
aCommerce previously raised $10.7 million in June 2014, in what has been one of the largest Series A rounds in Southeast Asia.
The company will use the proceeds from this round specifically towards building up its tech platforms and growth of e-commerce in Indonesia.
aCommerce said the latest round was oversubscribed by existing shareholders <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.ardentcap.com/" target="_blank">Ardent Capital</a>, Indonesian conglomerate <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.sinarmas.com/" target="_blank">Sinarmas</a> and SEA based <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://inspireventures.com/" target="_blank">Inspire Ventures</a>. At the same time, the Thai firm is also readying for a larger Series B round in the second half of 2015.
“The demand for aCommerce’s services in Indonesia has exceeded forecasts thanks to the speed and growth of heady new entrants to e-commerce in Indonesia and major clients signed. The aCommerce internal fundraising round will be used to build areas in marketing, technology platforms, expand warehouse space and recruitment. The Indonesian team is expected to exceed 300 staff members,” the company said in a statement.
