Banpu Power, which a subsidiary of Thailand&#8217;s largest coal miner, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.banpu.com/" target="_blank">Banpu Plc</a>, is planning to launch its initial public offering (IPO) in the SET market next year, said the company&#8217;s chief executive Somruedee Chaimongkol.
The company plans to use the proceeds from the IPO to expand the renewable energy in the overseas and domestic market through projects in solar power, biogas power, biomass power and wind power.
“BANPU is working  with a financial advisor company (FA) and we cannot give more detail because it will conflict with the office of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), “ she added.
The renewable energy business is an opportunity business. The company expects to get return of investment quickly even as the coal prices in the global market have dropped during the past three year.
Mr.Varavudhi Linananda, chief executive officer of Banpu Power said  the company has $300-$400 million per year investment budget outlay for the renewable energy.“The company expects to present present the paperwork for filling of the IPO to the SEC in the last quarter of 2015,&#8221;“he added.
He also declined to give details about the volume of shares to be offered in the IPO.
BANPU is investing in energy power n countries like Mongolia, China, Indonesia, Japan and India to increase the capacity base on percentage of ownership  to 4,000 megawatts (MW) from 2,300 MW at present.
The company has more than five energy power projects in the overseas as an independent power producer (IPP) with sizes ranging bertween 800 MW up to 1,000 MW.
“BANPU also looking at joint venture with the local company and has already signed an agreement to partner Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding (RATCH) for Indonesia,&#8221; he revealed.
