Twitter on Monday announced that it has appointed Manish Maheshwari as its new managing director for India.
Taranjeet Singh, who was elevated as Twitter’s Country Director for India in May 2017, had stepped down last year, and Balaji Krish was given charge of leading the country’s operations in the interim.
In a statement, Twitter said Maheshwari, the former CEO of Network18 Digital, will take over the new role starting April 29, and will be based in Delhi. He will be responsible for driving an integrated business strategy to accelerate Twitter’s audience and revenue growth in the country, overseeing teams in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Maheshwari will report to Twitter vice-president and Asia Pacific managing director Maya Hari.

Meanwhile, Krish will return to Twitter global headquarters in San Francisco to resume his role as Global Head of Revenue Strategy and Operations at Twitter, the company said.
Prior to joining Network18, Maheshwari held various positions at Flipkart, txtWeb, Intuit, McKinsey and P&G. He holds an MBA with honours from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
“I’ve been a Twitter user for more than 10 years now and I’m excited to lead Twitter India now to greater heights in the country. With premium Indian content on the rise in multiple regions across the country, I believe we are scratching the surface of what’s possible with Twitter in India.” Maheshwari said.
