<article><a href="http://www.twitter.com" target="_blank">Twitter Inc.</a> is aiming to increase its workforce in Singapore over the next two years &#8211; adding ~100 employees -as it seeks to acquire users and boost the number of advertisers in the Asia Pacific (APAC) market.</article>

<a href="http://www.twitter.com" target="_blank">Twitter Inc.</a> is aiming to increase its workforce in Singapore over the next two years &#8211; adding ~100 employees -as it seeks to acquire users and boost the number of advertisers in the Asia Pacific (APAC) market.
It plans to hire technical staff, including data analytics professionals, product specialists, as well as engineering and technology support staff in order to establish a regional hub in the city-state, according to <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/pub/shailesh-rao/0/50/790" target="_blank">Shailesh Rao</a>, Twitter&#8217;s VP for international operations.
Twitter is keen to access the rapidly growing  emerging markets of the region, like India and Indonesia. This focus also lends credence to the city-state&#8217;s technology scene, which is often described as &#8216;vibrant&#8217; and is seeing an increased volume of venture formation and government involvement in the technology sector.
Rao noted that Singapore is close to key Asian markets, but also allowed him to access senior counterparts in advertising firms and brands, as well as other relevant corporations.

Rao commented, &#8220;This is an emerging, de facto regional headquarters for so many companies.&#8221;
Since launching in 2006 and conducting its IPO in 2013, Twitter has grown into a mature company, with 43 acquisitions under its belt. It has transformed the social media landscape, being amongst the most used social networks worldwide. Its latest acquisition was <a href="https://www.tellapart.com" target="_blank">TellApart</a> in April 2015, which offered retailers a customer data platform for enhanced retail intelligence.
Twitter is also establishing a data lab in Singapore, which will include a new analytics team, in order to investigate and better understand the evolving social media terrain and operating terrain of the industry, as well as the nature of online information transactions in Asia.
Commenting on Twitter&#8217;s decision to expand its footprint in the APAC region, Rao stated: “We’re capitalising on this growth in 2015 by making strategic investments across the region – from opening new offices and aggressively hiring staff, to acquiring companies and building local product experiences.”
