International venture capital firm <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Index+Ventures">Index Ventures</a> led a A$30 million ($23 million) series B round for Australian technology firm <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=SafetyCulture">SafetyCulture</a>.
<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Blackbird+Ventures">Blackbird Ventures</a> and Atlassian’s co-founder and Co-CEO Scott Farquhar, who spearheaded the series A round two years ago, also participated in this round.
According to the statement, the funding will help expedite global growth for SafetyCulture including hiring more staffs in its offices in San Francisco, Sydney and Manchester.
SafetyCulture provides the mobile app and platform that pust safety and quality applications into workers’ hands. It creates smart checklists, conducts on-site inspections, analyses data and shares insights in real time.
“The funding changes how we go to market. We now provide 24/7 support with teams in the UK, USA and Australia and we will continue to expand in these key markets. As we scale we want to build a company where leaders can execute the vision and move quickly without too much structure. Now our focus is finding more great people who share our passion for solving a global problem.  SafetyCulture has achieved about five per cent of our long term vision, so the additional funding will allow us to grow, push forward with our product roadmap and bring new features to market quicker,” Luke Anear, CEO of SafetyCulture, said.
It claims that over 75 per cent of the ASX 50 companies use SafetyCulture iAuditor app, and it enables over one million inspections per month across 80 countries.
Apart from its Australian customers &#8211; Coles, Coco-Cola Amatil, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=BHP+Billiton">BHP Billiton</a>, Schneider Electric &#8211; SafetyCulture has driven more than 30 million inspections for customers around the world, including Qantas, Hilton and Coca-Cola. The company also collaborates with HP, Apple and Microsoft to bring its technology to all mobile devices.
&#8220;Companies in all industries are interested in fostering a culture of quality and safety but too many still rely on outdated pen-and-paper solutions that lead to inefficiency, inconsistency and limited visibility across the organisation,&#8221; said Jan Hammer, Partner at Index Ventures.
“Businesses need more than a static paper checklist to run their operations, ensure compliance and quickly respond to customer needs. SafetyCulture, via its mobile app, delivers consistent, standardized experiences at a large scale. It is outpacing a growing industry with its proactive solutions and we believe it is well-positioned to increase its industry lead,&#8221; added Hammer.
Hammer will also join Rick Baker, co-founder of Blackbird Ventures, and Luke Anear, SafetyCulture CEO, on the company board of directors with Scott Farquhar continuing as an advisor.
