Vertex Ventures Israel has co-led a $10-million seed funding round in tech startup <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Meta%20Networks">Meta Networks Ltd,</a> which recently launched its flagship technology platform Meta NaaS.
Vertex Ventures, which co-led the funding round with the BRM Group, has been on an investment spree in Israel. Last week, it co-led an $11-million seed funding round in Israeli transcription startup Verbit. In March, it co-led a $5-million seed round in Nucleai, an Israeli startup that uses artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to detect cancer and other diseases.
In a statement, Meta Networks said it will use the latest capital infusion to expand operations as its technology platform Meta NaaS gains traction in the enterprise market. The Meta NaaS platform replaces conventional, site-centric Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) with a platform that provides always-on security for the enterprise and its employees, whether accessing private resources or the Internet, Meta Networks added.
The company cited a report released by Gartner, which said that by 2021, 60 per cent of enterprises will phase out network VPNs for digital business communications in favour of software-defined perimeters, up from less than 1 per cent in 2016.
&#8220;This shift enables enterprises to effectively restore the perimeter by protecting all employee traffic – both corporate and internet – all of the time,” said Etay Bogner, CEO and Founder of Meta Networks.
The platform, according to the company, seeks to address the current requirements for secure remote access, multi-cloud connectivity, and branch connectivity.
Prior to Meta Networks, Bogner founded Stratoscale, a company focused on private clouds. He also founded Neocleus, a virtualization vendor acquired by Intel.
