Vietnam is expected to see investments bouncing back after the pandemic-hit, and investors are expected to bet on the country’s tech ecosystem, said panelists at the Asia PE-VC Summit 2020 organised by DealStreetAsia in November.
“Vietnam’s tech ecosystem is still very young, very early but has a lot of potential to grow,” said Vy Le, co-founder and general partner at Do Ventures. She was participating in a panel discussion titled ‘Vietnam: What makes it tick?’ at the summit.
She was joined by BDA Capital Partners’ managing partner Bert Kwan, and Hang Do, COO of Temasek-backed Scommerce in the panel. The panelists also pointed to the challenges the country’s startups face.
For instance, there is a disproportionately low number of entrepreneurs in technology or technology-enabled sectors in Vietnam, according to Kwan.
Hang of Scommerce added that at a later stage, there are not many funds or investors in Vietnam, who have the experience and expertise to help a company.
