<a href="http://masangroup.com/">Masan Group</a>, one of Vietnam’s largest private consortia, has announced an issue of 10.9 million shares to 73 of its employees, under the employee stock ownership plan (ESOP).
The initial plan was to issue 12 million shares.
As a result of the issuance, Masan Group’s charter capital will increase to nearly VND7.47 billion ($344.2 million) from VND7.35 trillion. The shares will be listed on August 17.
The employees are entitled to buy the shares at the par value of VND10,000 per unit. Meanwhile, Masan Group’s stock price is being traded at almost 10 times higher at VND95,000, which translates into a collective value of over VND1 trillion ($46 million).
The shares are not limited to transfer, therefore the holders can realise their profits at anytime they want.
Masan Group continues to be a generous company to employees, following a record ESOP programme in May 2013, when the group sold 17.86 million shares to its staff at par value. The stock price then reached around VND110,000.
The consumer goods arm of the group, Masan Consumer has also planned to issue 3.8 million ESOP shares this month.
In the first quarter of 2015, Masan Group reported a revenue of VND3.6 trillion, rising 31.8 per cent year-on-year, ushering in a profit of VND57 billion, climbing more than 150 per cent over the same period last year.
The company said its Masan Resource unit, typically the Nui Phao tungsten mine, and consumer goods business, were the main growth engines during the period. Masan Group is confident of delivering $2 billion revenue for the 2015 fiscal.
Half of the revenue is expected to be contributed by its animal-based protein platform, which acquired 52 per cent in <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://conco.com.vn/">Vietnam French Cattle Feed JSC</a> and 70 per cent in <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://anco.com.vn/en/index.html">Agro Nutrition Company</a>, by taking over Sam Kim Co Ltd (and renaming it Masan Nutri-Science Co Ltd). The deal has helped Masan Group gain the second place in Vietnam’s animal feed market.
Apart from animal feed, beverage and natural  resources, Masan Group is also involved in the financial sector, as it is the largest shareholder of <a href="https://www.techcombank.com.vn/trang-chu">Techcombank</a> with a 19.6 per cent ownership.
