Accel co-leads $7.5m funding in Chronicle and other India deals

ChronicleHQ, which operates software-as-a-service (SaaS) presentation platform Chronicle, has raised $7.5 million in its seed funding round co-led by venture capital firm Accel and Square Peg.

The round also saw the participation of angels from Apple, Google, Meta, Slack, Stripe, Superhuman, OnDeck, and Adobe, among others, the startup said in a statement.

The funding proceeds will be used for product development and hiring.

Founded by Mayuresh Patole and Tejas Gawande, Chronicle is a new format of presentations that lets users create interactive and engaging presentation slides by offering them pre-designed blocks as templates. The platform is currently in the beta stage and is operating through a remote team of 15, operating across the US, India, and Australia.

“Social media has completely hijacked how people consume complex information. Attention spans have reduced by 33% since 2000 and have given rise to shorter formats across almost everything we consume. Today, most audiences stop paying attention to the presentation at the 10-minute mark. As younger generations have entered the workplace, this feeling of ‘death by Powerpoint’ has only grown more acute,” said Gawande.

“Our early adopters are able to use Chronicle to create some of the best decks in just 8 minutes instead of 8 hours. Eventually, we see Chronicle being the best way to anchor any meeting or discussion, in-person, remote, or asynchronous,” Patole added.
