In a bunch of recent venture capital and strategic deals in Asia, Sony has acquired Altair Semiconductor while Tokyo-based Adways has invested in Daylight Studios and defence contractor mPrest has secured a $20-million Series A investment.
Altair Semiconductor acquired by Sony for $200m
Israeli chip manufacturing startup Altair Semiconductor has been acquired by Sony for $200 million. Altair was incepted in 2005 by co-founders Eran Eshed, Oded Melamed, and Yigal Bitran, following the acquisition of their prior venture, Libit Signal Processing, in a $365 million deal in 1999.
