UK-based private equity fund <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Dolma+Impact+Fund">Dolma Impact Fund</a> has invested $3.2 million equity capital in the 28.2 MW Lower Likhu Hydropower Project in Nepal.
Developed by<a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=+Swet+Ganga+Hydropower+%26+Construction"> Swet Ganga Hydropower &amp; Construction</a>, this project requires a total investment of about Rs 5 billion (about $50 million).
Local media reported that the fund’s investment will be divested after a three-year lock-in period after the company’s initial public offering (IPO), which has not started the process yet.
“This investment in a private company is for empowering the private sector and also for creating jobs,” the fund’s investment manager Shabda Gyawali told the media.
The Dolma Fund has committed the investment of $26 million in Nepal and has to exit all its investments by 2024.
Earlier, it had injected $1.13 million in Suri Khola Hydropower Project in Dolakha in March last year. It also joined a $7.3-million series B round in Cloud Factory Group, a Nepal-based startup in cloud labour, and invested an undisclosed sum in a pharmaceutical company Rhododendron Biotech Pvt Ltd.
