Catcha Digital is acquiring the organiser of a major Malaysian F&B trade fair, while Japanese software firm Cybozu is expanding in Malaysia with a $6.4 million investment.
Catcha Digital acquiring organiser of MIFB trade fair
Malaysian investment holding firm Catcha Digital is acquiring the organiser of the Malaysian International Food & Beverage Trade Fair (MIFB) for 3.97 million ringgit ($840,000), expanding its business-to-business exhibition portfolio into the fast-growing food and beverage sector.
The deal will see One International Exhibition Sdn Bhd, a 60%-owned unit of Catcha Digital, buy a 100% stake in Constellar Exhibitions Malaysia, which runs MIFB, one of Southeast Asia’s largest F&B trade shows.
MIFB, now in its 25th year, drew over 12,000 visitors and 500 exhibitors from 84 countries in 2025, and is expected to attract more than 13,000 attendees this year.
Catcha Digital said the acquisition would complement its existing exhibitions in agriculture and construction, while creating operational synergies through shared sales networks, venue procurement, and event management capabilities.
Catcha Digital, which operates across digital media, B2B expos, and IT solutions, has been actively expanding through acquisitions, completing seven deals in 2025 aimed at boosting earnings and strengthening its position in the regional events and media space.
Japan’s Cybozu investing $6.4m for Malaysia expansion
Japanese office software firm Cybozu has committed an initial $6.4 million to expand its operations in Malaysia, betting on Southeast Asia as a key growth driver for its collaborative software business.
The Tokyo-based firm said the investment will support its regional expansion, with Malaysia serving as its Southeast Asia headquarters, as it targets rising demand for digital tools among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Cybozu, known for its Kintone platform, reported revenue of $240.06 million in 2025, with Kintone contributing $138.72 million, up 33.9% from a year earlier.
Chief Executive Yoshihisa Aono said Southeast Asia presents strong growth potential, particularly in Malaysia and Thailand, where businesses are accelerating digital adoption.
Cybozu said the investment will fund infrastructure and support wider adoption of digital solutions among local businesses.
It is also strengthening its Malaysian base to oversee regional operations and advancing initiatives linked to its Kintone AI Lab and collaboration with the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation.
