Japan’s Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) has awarded the global infrastructure investment mandate to UK-headquartered private equity firm Pantheon.

GPIF has appointed Pantheon as a “Fund of Funds Manager” following the RFP in April 2017. The strategy is to implement alternative investments following a “multi-manager” approach to pursue fund investments and co-investments, according to its website update on Tuesday.
