Given the domination of foreign players in the gaming industry, the Indonesian government is pushing local developers to cash in on the business opportunity by providing them special incentives, according to a top official.

Indonesia’s minister of tourism and creative economy ministry, Sandiaga Uno, in a fireside chat with BNI Ventures CEO Eddi Danusapotro at DealStreetAsia’s Indonesia PE-VC Summit 2023 in Jakarta on Thursday, said he is impressed with the gaming industry in Indonesia which attracted close to 150 million players last year. “I spotted two major gaming events in Jakarta — one of the events was attended by 4-5 million people,” he said.
