Motorcycle taxis, or Ojeks, are a popular transportation mode to navigate the crazy traffic jams in Indonesia’s busiest cities such as Jakarta. When you are in a hurry, an Ojek can help you zigzag through gridlocked cars and buses. However, it was not always easy to find an Ojek.
Passengers had to hail them at street corners or crowded areas such as bus or train stations. There were no fixed rates, so drivers could jack up the price as they pleased during rush hours. Passengers had to negotiate the price before taking the ride.
