Social commerce platforms tweak their game plan as Indonesians tighten purse strings

Indonesia’s social commerce startups, which make use of community networks and social media platforms to sell products and services, say they can brave the fallouts of the country’s recent fuel price hike with small tweaks to their game plan.

President Joko Widodo’s move, earlier this month, to hike fuel prices by more than 30% across the archipelago, to curb a soaring fuel subsidy bill, is expected to lower disposable incomes and curb household spending.
