The Malaysian government today announced a $47.8 million (MYR200 million) allocation for startups, a move that indicates the government’s confidence in the startup and small businesses in the country.

“The Government had declared that year 2017 will be the Startup and SME Promotion Year in line with the role of SMEs in significantly contributing to nation’s growth and labour market,” said Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in his speech while presenting the country’s Budget 2017.
