South Korea's MBK Partners said to seek $6b for North Asia buyout fund

North Asia-focused private-equity firm MBK Partners is targeting as much as $6 billion for its fifth buyout fund, said two people with direct knowledge of the matter, adding to a list of buyout firms chasing capital for investing in the region.

The firm, set up in 2005 by former Carlyle Group Asia executives, is in talks with prospective investors to raise between $5 billion and $6 billion, said the people. It plans to reach the first close by the end of November and the final close by the second half of next year, said one of them.
