IndoChino has secured a strategic investment from Mitsui while Chatbook has closed a seed investment from Salesforce Ventures, East Ventures and YJ Capital.
<h3>Mitsui &amp; Co makes strategic investment in IndoChino</h3>
Vancouver apparel company <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.indochino.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Indochino</a> recently raised a strategic investment from the US subsidiary of Tokyo-listed conglomerate <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/mitsui-co/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mitsui &amp; Co</a>. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.
Indochino said the funds raised, as well as the partnership with Mitsui, will help it expand across North America and invest in its global operations and supply chain.
Founded in 2007 and led by CEO Drew Green, Indochino offers custom clothing through its online and offline retail channels.
&#8220;Mitsui’s global footprint and its expertise scaling and operating international businesses will be invaluable as we prepare for the next phase of growth and scale as a global apparel brand,&#8221; said Green.
Mitsui is the company’s third strategic partner, joining China&#8217;s Dayang Group, which backed a $42-million investment in the firm in March 2016. Another strategic investor is Canadian media firm Postmedia Network Inc.
Other investors include Acton Capital Partners, Highland Consumer Partners, Madrona Venture Group and Version One Ventures.
<h3>Chatbook closes seed round</h3>
Japan’s <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://chatbook.ai/">ChatBook</a>, which provides an automated marketing solution utilising a Facebook Messenger chatbot, has closed a seed round backed by Salesforce Ventures, East Ventures and YJ Capital.
This follows an investment in 2016 from YJ Capital and East Ventures as part of an accelerator programme called Code Republic jointly managed by the two companies.
ChatBook provides an auto-creation function of a chatbot that can provide information and interact with website visitors. It targets enterprise users and allows them to secure user flow to enhance marketing. Currently, it is available at no change for individual users and allows businesses to trial it for 10 days at no charge.
