GrabPay is hiring former OCBC banker to grow its digital wallet segment while 8I Holdings Ltd has appointed the CEO of logistics startup Moovaz as advisor for its new investment tool.
<h3>GrabPay names head of Singapore</h3>
Ride-hailing major Grab&#8217;s financial services arm GrabPay has named former OCBC head of strategic partnerships of group lifestyle financing, Gary Wong to head its Singapore operations.
According to Wong&#8217;s LinkedIn profile, he has started with GrabPay Singapore in May, after spending almost four years at OCBC Bank. Prior to that, he was with DBS Bank as its vice-president of usage and co-brand products for slightly over five years.
Grab has declined to confirm Wong&#8217;s appointment but it is believed he would report to managing director of GrabPay Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, Ooi Huey Tyng, who is also a former banker with Visa, DBS Bank, UOB and Citibank.
<h3>8IH appoints Moovaz CEO as advisor</h3>
Australian-listed investment holding company 8I Holdings Ltd has appointed the CEO of logistics startup Moovaz, Lee Junxian as the advisor for the company&#8217;s upcoming investment tool, WealthPark, an initiative by 8Bit Global.
Besides Moovaz, Lee has co-founded several startups including online fraud risk management startup CashShield and private investment platform Fundnel. He also had a stint with Sea Ltd, launching Sea&#8217;s e-commerce business Shopee across the region.
“His extensive experience in kickstarting technological startup companies would prove valuable to 8IH in achieving excellence for its new engine of growth,&#8221; said 8IH executive chairman, Ken Chee.
