Private equity players are becoming aggressive in Southeast Asia, given the long-term growth story in the region, the opening up of Myanmar, the privatisation drive in Vietnam, and also riding on the fact that many new companies being set up here, said Mark Mobius, iconic investor and Executive Chairman, Templeton Emerging Markets Group, Franklin Templeton Investments, in an interaction with this website.
Early in his career, Mobius had built a reputation for picking up stocks when they were undervalued relative to their growth potential, and built on that by consistently delivering outsized returns for investors. He is also a pioneer who popularized trading in emerging markets, and is the keynote speaker for DEALSTREETASIA’s Private Equity-Venture Capital Summit being held in Singapore on September 30.
