Expanding its internet business footprint in Myanmar, R<a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.rocket-internet.com">ocket Internet</a> launched its online hotel booking venture <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.jovago.com">Jovago.com.</a>
<a href="http://www.jovago.com/">Jovago.com</a> is an online hotel booking service with operations in Africa and Asia.
Mainly targeting local travellers, Jovago has established a team that will help people book hotels featured on their website.
“Myanmar is a great country with breathtaking scenery and hospitable people. There is a strong demand by locals and foreigners to discover the entire country and Jovago wants to be a solution. The potential of Myanmar is huge not only for Jovago but for the tourism industry and all our hotel partners,” said Paul Midy, CEO of Jovago, in a statement.
Currently having about 250 hotels listed on the site, Jovago is expanding its partnership to reach about 1,500 hotels by the next year.
Being the fist online hotel booking site targeting Myanmar people featuring the local language, bookings can be made either through the website or the application currently available on android phones.
“There is not much on offer for local people who want to discover their own country. The situation provides Jovago with a lot of potential to grow, boost Myanmar tourism and become the biggest online hotel booking portal,” said Hugo Schleicher, managing director, Jovago Myanmar.
Started in June 2013, Jovago was formed by the <a href="http://www.asiapacificinternetgroup.com">Asia Pacific Internet Group</a>, whose shareholders are Rocket Internet and Ooredoo. First started in Nigeria and in Kenya, Jovago expanded to Pakistan in 2014 and later to Bangladesh and Myanmar in mid 2015.
