Sequoia China, Yunfeng Capital lead $228m round in Chinese rice brand Shiyue Daotian

Sequoia Capital China and private equity (PE) firm Yunfeng Capital, co-founded by Alibaba Group’s Jack Ma, have jointly led a Series B round of 1.45 billion yuan (about $228 million) in Shiyue Daotian, an agriculture brand famous for its rice grown in northeastern China.

PE firm CMC Capital Group, created by Chinese media tycoon Li Ruigang, and investment firm Taihecap participated in the round, alongside existing shareholder GenBridge Capital. Taihecap also served as the exclusive financial advisor of the deal.
