Uber-Grab deal may have infringed competition laws, says Singapore watchdog

The Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS) on Friday said it has reasonable grounds to suspect that Grab’s acquisition of rival Uber’s Southeast Asia operations has infringed competition laws.

As the CCS conducts its investigation into the issue, it has in the interim asked the two ride-hailing firms to maintain their pre-transaction pricing, pricing policies, and product options. This is the first time the watchdog has proposed such measures in the wake of a merger.
