The year 2019 saw a surge in venture capital funds focused on providing growth capital to startups in Southeast Asia. These growth funds are targeting to raise $2.28 billion in capital, according to DealStreetAsia estimates.
Early-stage investors in the region have forged partnerships or gone solo to launch large growth funds in order to continue supporting their portfolio companies. Investment firms have also been drawn by a growing pool of companies in the region that are valued between $100 million and $1 billion and are seeking capital for their next phase of growth.
