<a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=TTCL+Plc" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TTCL Plc</a>, one of Thailand’s largest listed contractors, is considering investing over $6 billion (Bt 204 billion) in setting up two coal-fired power plants in Myanmar, according to <a href="http://www.nationmultimedia.com/news/business/corporate/30317671" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">The Nation</a>.
The two coal power plants will be set up in Mon and Kayin states between the second half of this year and 2020, the report quoted Gobchai Tanasugarn, chief financial officer of TTCL, as saying.
TTCL is a 51:49 joint venture between <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Italian-Thai+Development+" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Italian-Thai Development</a> and Japan’s <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Toyo+Engineering+Corporation" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Toyo Engineering Corporation</a>.
The first coal-fired plant planned in Mon state is expected to have a production capacity of 1280 megawatts, and will cost $3 billion.
The second plant 1280 MW in Kayin is still under study. TTCL is likely to take another 30 months before putting a formal proposal in front of the Myanmar government.
Last year, the Thai company had announced plans to list its subsidiary, <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=TTCL+Power+Holdings" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TTCL Power Holdings</a>, on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) or the Singapore Exchange. The company is still considering where it plans to list  its subsidiary. Previously, it had planned to raise between $100 and $200 million through an initial public offering on the Singapore exchange.
In Myanmar, <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Toyo+Thai+Power+Myanmar" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Toyo Thai Power Myanmar</a>, a subsidiary of TTCL has already been operating a 121 MW natural-gas fuelled combined-cycle power plant in Yangon.
In countries like Japan, TTCL plans to increase the productivity of the solar farms which are set to be operational in 2019.
According to the company&#8217;s financial data posted on SET, it recorded total revenue of Bt 20.024 billion and net profit of Bt 445.53 million in 2016.
