Gobi Partners carves a niche in the VC industry, coins new segment ‘TaqwaTech’ for Islamic ventures

At a time when Southeast Asia is emerging as a hotbed for venture capital firms setting foot in the region with hopes to strike gold, Shanghai-based Venture Capital firm Gobi Partners may be carving an industry trend with its business philosophy, to ‘think global and act local.’

Based on the firm’s philosophy to get “local”, in Malaysia, Gobi has created a new segment called “TaqwaTech” — faith based ventures — for entrepreneurs to target the large Muslim population in the region.
