<a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/CPPIB/">The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board</a> (CPPIB) has appointed Suyi Kim as senior managing director &amp; head of Asia Pacific to oversee its growing investment portfolio in the region.
Suyi, who has over 15 years of private equity investment experience including at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and The Carlyle Group, will officially take over this position from June 1 this year, the Canadian pension fund said in a statement.
She joined CPPIB in 2006 to establish the fund&#8217;s office in Hong Kong. She also launched and led CPPIB’s Private Equity Asia business before taking on the role of managing director &amp; head of Asia. She earlier worked at McKinsey &amp; Co. in various Asian countries and at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Following senior executive changes earlier this year, CPPIB also announced appointments of four other executives in departments of credit investments, active fundamental equities, relationship investments, and capital markets.
These appointments reflect an evolved investment department structure that provides for greater investment agility and the recognition of the importance of emerging markets, CPPIB said in the release.
“By bolstering our senior management team, CPPIB is further enhancing our international competitiveness, positioning the organization to support CPPIB’s long-term strategy to drive growth for the benefit of generations of Canadians,” said Mark Machin, President &amp; CEO, CPPIB.
CPPIB is a global investment management organization that invests the assets of the Canada Pension Plan and operates at an arm&#8217;s length from government. CPPIB invests in public equities, private equities, real estate, infrastructure and fixed income instruments. The fund totalled C$337.1 billion ($262.1 billion) by the end of last year.
